Why Arson Claims Are On The Rise For Car Insurance Companies
November 3rd, 2009
Car insurance companies are finding themselves with much higher arson claims then in the past. From 2008 to 2009 arson fraud rates have increased by about 30%. This number is said to have increased so much due to the economic downturn.

Fuel costs on average more than in the past 5 years and job losses are on the rise. When consumers find themselves in tough situations they tend to do things that may not normally do.
Many auto insurance customers are trying to justify the error of their ways with the fact that they might have never filed a claim over the many years with their insurance company. So if they have put so much money into something they have never used, is it okay to commit arson to try and get some of that money back in their pocket? It is never okay to commit a crime. You might however be able to understand the plight of some of these first time offenders.
With a slowing economy and a job loss or two in the family it may be very difficult for families to meet their financial obligations on auto loans as well as the cost of continuing full coverage on their auto policy.
Because of the continuing increase of fraudulent claims there are sure to be more insurance premium increases coming the way of consumers. Do your part to keep premiums down and keep your local roads safe. Safe driving and fewer accidents can help to combat the increases from fraudulent charges.
